Soc., 63 : 420-432, 1898 Earlier developments in antitoxin work are reviewed; experiments with diphtheria toxin and antitoxin and heated tiger snake venom and Calmette's antivenene; after standing for 30 minutes heating an in vitro mixture of antivenene and venom does not impair the neutralizing power of the antivenene; antagonism between toxin and antitoxin due to a direct chemical action between them. |
